Family Adventures are specialists in soft adventure trips rafting and kayaking the upper reaches of the famous Shotover River, Queenstown. Our trip by bus and raft is a unique way to experience the wonderful backcountry we have close by in Queenstown, and is suitable for everyone from 3 years upwards as we raft only grade one and two rapids.
The trip kicks off with a drive into the in-famous Skippers Canyon – quite possibly the most spectacular drive in NZ! The views are astounding and the area is jam packed with history and gold mining relics. Knowledgeable guides will enthrall you with tales from the colourful gold mining past. We will kit you out with all the gear you’ll need from the ground up at our base beside the historic Pipeline built back in 1864, before taking to the water at the put in point made famous as “The Ford of Bruinen” in the Lord of the Rings movie.

Family Adventures now has the capability to allow international wholesalers and agents to book their clients directly on trips via their own ‘smart button’. Initially concentrating on having this capability for the Australian market, the system can be extended worldwide. Agents/Wholesalers will use the secure Family Adventures payment & booking site to charge their customers credit card for the excursion in local currency. No more calling internationally for availability, instant confirmation for trips. We now also have the capability of providing agents with an electronic guide for the trip, for their information and their customers’.
