About Queenstown Wine Trail
Queenstown Wine Trail has been operating since 1992 and is privately owned by Lance Benseman and Heather McDonald.
As the Central Otago wine region has grown, the range and options of wine tours with Queenstown Wine Trail has developed. Lance and Heather have built strong committed partnerships with the Queenstown and Central Otago vineyards in the last two decades. They are constantly modifying and developing their product to satisfy client demand and incorporate appropriate new vineyards as they come on line.
Queenstown Wine Trail is the leading wine tour operator in Queenstown and has developed wine itineraries ranging from daily wine tours and wine combination tours to highly personalised private wine tours. In addition to scheduled wine tours Queenstown Wine Trail also caters for conferences, incentives and group itineraries.
The experienced team of staff and close relationship the company has with the wineries means their guests are guaranteed a fun, informative, friendly and personalised tour. On our tours, guests meet members of each vineyard team for a close up perspective of the local wine.

Half-Day Wine Tours
Discover Central Otago’s premium wines only a short journey from central Queenstown on one of our daily wine tours. Meet members of the vineyard team for a close up perspective of the local wines. Pick up and drop off at accommodation or Central Queenstown.
Original Wine Tour (Operates all year round)
Join us for an in-depth introduction to local wineries with an option of purchasing a winery lunch. Tour includes tasting at four wineries, an underground wine cave tour, time to relax at wine bar or Chessery and a view of Queenstown’s original bungy jump. Departs: Daily 12.30pm, Duration: 5 hours
Summer Sampler (Operates daily from 1 October – 30 April)
This food and wine experience is a relaxed and leisurely tour amongst picturesque surroundings. Tour includes tastings at two wineries, an underground wine cave tour, cheese presentation with tastings and a gourmet lunch at Gibbston Valley Winery. Departs: Daily 12.30pm, Duration: 3 ½ hours
Private Wine Tours
Our friendly personalised private wine tours are ideally suited for a couple, family or small group of friends who prefer to exclusivity and flexibility of a private guide and vehicle. Enjoy ‘behind the scenes’ interaction with winery personnel and experience a close-up perspective of our world class wines and local cuisine. Private tours are prearranged on request and departure times are flexible. After careful consultation with our experienced guides you can choose the wineries you wish to visit. You will be picked up in our comfortable Lexus Sedan or Toyota Mini Bus.
Wine Combination Tours including: Helicopter, Jetboat, Spa or Garden
We have teamed up with other premium tourist activities to offer you daily wine tour combos. If you keen to get on the water or in the air, we do offer Helicopter or Jet Boat combos. Or if you prefer the ultimate relaxation package, try our spa and wine experience. Discover the hidden splendour of some of the district’s finest residential gardens with the Garden and Wine Combo.

Queenstown Wine Trail’s division ‘Designer Days’ specialises in tailor made tours for your conference, incentive group, partner programme or wine clubs. We offer tailor-made tours in the Arrowtown, Gibbston or Central Otago regions. Our tours are carefully designed to suit clients’ individual needs, ranging from 2 hours to full day tours for 2 to 80 people.
Queenstown Garden Walk (also owned and operated by Queenstow Wine Trail)
Discover the hidden splendour of some of our district’s finest private country gardens set in the area’s grand alpine scenery. Relax and chat with friendly homeowners as they show you through their treasured gardens. This is a time to savour the “kiwi” culture and knowledge. These delightful y located gardens are just a short journey from Queenstown with spectacular views. Enjoy morning tea in a fabulous New Zealand garden setting This tour also takes you through historic Arrowtown, a picturesque gold mining village. Queenstown Garden Walk is unique in offering visits to private residential gardens which enhances a memorable experience.
