8 tips to improve your email marketing

Do you use email marketing (or are thinking about it)? Then read on!

​​Email marketing is still highly relevant. In fact, the use of it has increased over the last 10 years and it is the most used marketing channel with the highest return on investment. WOW! Email marketing works better than social media marketing as each message needs dealt with  - even if it's deleted, people still read your headline! Social media posts can get 'lost' due to the volume of posts.
And the great thing with email is that virtually everyone uses it! 

Here are some tips to improve your email newsletters:
  1. Plan to send regular newsletters: schedule when you’re sending them and plan the content in advance. Ensure your content appeals to your audience: always keep in mind: what’s in it for them?
  2. Segment your databases – don’t send the same message to your whole database; customise your messages to appeal to each of your customer segments. Content is king and tailoring your message to your audience is a must.
  3. Personalised emails get opened more
  4. Have a call to action – what do you want them to do?
  5. Keep it short! On average, people spend only 51 seconds reading an email newsletter. So just have an intro to a topic and a link to your website for more the rest of the article. This will also drive traffic to your website (and Google loves this type of traffic!)
  6. Share your email newsletter on social media and put your email newsletter content on your website too! It keeps your website fresh and up to date
  7. Visual content -great pics, GIF's and videos- gets opened most!
  8. Measure the number of people that open your newsletter, click through to your content and convert to sales. This will give you an indication of the type of content that works so you can keep improving!

This is great info and I’m finding it very true of my own email use that even when I don’t plan on opening mail, I at least scan the headlines for relevant topics.
