What content types should you create?l

24/3/2016

Last week, I posted an article with content ideas for your website, blog, newsletters etc.

This week, I found a great infographic outlining the types of content you could create. It's about understanding the different options to communicate with your customers, the cost, their effectiveness etc. Quality and relevant content will drive traffic to your website and is a great way to communicate and build relationships with your target markets.

Click on the image to the right to enlarge! Have a look what type of content is most relevant to your business.

Have a Happy Easter! Till next week, Marijke

Newsletter, blog, social media and website update topic ideas

17/3/2016

We all know how important fresh content on your website, newsletter or social media is. It provides up to date information to your customers and helps keep your website ranking high in search engines. But coming up with ideas of what to write about can be a struggle.

Don’t despair … you’re not the only one! Below are some ideas of topics you could use to update your content.
  • Top 3, Top 5 or Top 10 lists (of whatever you can think of that relates to your product, your area etc.)
  • Promotions/deals
  • Did you know? – list of facts about the area or frequently asked questions about your business
  • Interview with a staff member or customer
  • New photos or videos
  • Tips or how to's
  • Little known facts or factoids
  • Relevant and timely statistics
  • Ask your community - take polls and share results
  • Invite guest authors
  • Case studies
  • Interviews
  • News
  • Opinions
  • Gift ideas
  • Start a competition
  • Upcoming events
  • Funny story

A few more tips:
  • Keep your audience in mind - what would THEY be interested in?
  • Keep your newsletter short with links to your website for more information.
  • Make a list in advance with what you're going to write about in the next 6 months or a year - this will make it a lot easier when it's time to write your newsletter or update your website and social media.
  • Use relevant keywords in your content.

Any more ideas? Do share in the comment box below!

Till next week, Marijke

Pricing tricks learned from restaurants

11/3/2016

The next time you go to a café or restaurant, take a closer look at the pricing on the menu. Some restaurants have really thought about about the way they price and display their pricing (or got someone to help them think about it!)

Rather than focus too much on the display of the price with dollar signs and cents, they streamline the amount by simply putting 12. This is instead of for example $12.50, reminding customers too much that they are spending money.

The other trick they use is to have some higher priced dishes on the menu purely to make to other ones look more reasonable.

Diners apparently go for neither the cheapest nor most expensive items on the menu.
So by having some more expensive dishes purely for that reason, they get their customers to spend more.

So, have a look at your pricing and whether you could apply this principle. It’s worth a try and may get your customers to spend more with you!

Till next week, Marijke

1 simple way to get more subscribers to your newsletter or blog

Do you write a regular newsletter or blog to your customers? If not, you may think of doing so as it’s a great way to keep in touch with past, current and potential customers.

As you may be aware, I have written a Weekly Marketing Tip for the last seven years.
Over the last six months or so, I have done something that is increasing my mailing list steadily. It’s very simple and doesn’t require any extra effort on my part.

Do you want to know what it is? It's a pop-up box! And it works. They say a 600% increase in subscription rate, but this is probably different for everyone.

I have one on this website and it appears 5 seconds after someone opens the site for the first time. As a result, I get new subscribers every week!

It's that simple!

Have a great weekend!
Marijke
